Finding a job can be frustrating at times and can actually be incredibly time consuming; it is almost like a full time job in itself. StartWire is a website where you can create your very own account to efficiently manage and monitor your job search.
The site is easy to use and offers much more than other job search websites. There are added capabilities incorporated into StartWire so you can connect with people you know through social networking sites.
In your personal StartWire account, which you can sign up for at no cost, there are many helpful tools. The account will enable you to download and save resumes directly from your computer. Performing a job search while logged into your account gives you the opportunity to save that specific search criterion for future searches.
StartWire is notable distinguished for its application process. After submitting resumes for a position the system will automatically send you a confirmation email. You can choose to forward the confirmation onto StartWire’s customer service team who will then add it to your list of tracked applications. Updates on each one’s status will then be viewable through your online account.
Job seekers send out tons of resumes, many of which receive no response. The term for this disconnect is called the “application black hole”. StartWire has implemented the tracking platform to bridge this gap. With this feature you no longer have to continuously wonder if your application is being considered, has already been denied or if it was even viewed by the hiring manager.
There are articles on the StartWire website to browse through with a range of topics from how to create a resume to preparing for an interview. The expert advice tab is there for job seekers to post questions on. Within hours of submitting your inquiry, a career professional will provide a response with the answer.
Even though some job seekers are currently employed and are simply scoping out new opportunities, others are jobless and may even be collecting unemployment benefits. States require these claimants to track their weekly job searches. StartWire’s Unemployment Work Search Organizer is an automated system that compiles the necessary data for the unemployment agencies. They are specifically designed to incorporate the information required per the state you must report to.
Reviews online, posted by StartWire job seekers showed that they were impressed with the site. Websites that offer information on the legitimacy and the safety of online job search engines portrayed StartWire to be a reliable and secure portal for job seekers to use. Overall, StartWire has addressed the frustrations job seekers encounter during the search process which includes time saving tools and resume tracking.

startwire steals your information
Found a job on LinkedIn and tried to apply. Was sent to startwire who told me to fill out a profile and upload my resume to apply for the position. THEN startwire sent me to the actual site that had the job! The information that startwire tricked me out of was not sent to the actual site, it was all just a data grab, a blatant theft of my information. They have a blurb in their sidebar that says my data is completely under my control, but we'll see how that pans out. I'm asking them to delete everything associated with me and any information I gave to them under false pretenses. I doubt it.
Do Not Give Startwire ANY info.
Yes, James is correct, Startwire IS A NIGHTMARE. You cannot stop or delete anything once your info. goes viral. They are not assisting me in finding employment, they are giving me a giant headache each time I get on the computer. Trying to delete the account or even change it, and of course can't do it. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Startwire is resume "puppy mill"!
If you ever get a notice or see a posting from Startwire, quickly delete and do not apply! Going through the process of looking for a job is stressful enough without being inundated with tons of spam-job-posting emails. Your resume is your representative to the business community, don’t let your information become a commodity to be bought and sold by resume “puppy-mills”.
By applying for a job via Startwire, they take your application and create an account for you with their service, and then unknown to you share your information with every job posting search engine on the internet. Sounds good… at first. The next day your email account is inundated with emails from +30 different job posting sites all with results from assumed keywords that have been pulled from your resume. For example, I am a biologist with experience working with the oil & gas industry in which I have collaborated with various engineers, in addition, at one time was an assistant professor at a university; thus now my email account is full of job postings for professors of engineering, along with every other combination of these keywords plus extras (Seriously, how do you get “Virtual Sr Platform Engineer” or “Starbucks Barista Co School of Mines” from Senior Biology / Project Manager?).
What makes this worse is that each of these search engine companies (Jobsreport, Hirewire, Dice Jobs, Lensa, etc.…) all have created accounts for me (with daily emails) and are now asking for me to pick my password. I spent the morning removing all these accounts and unsubscribing; some of this you can do from your unwanted Startwire account. However, you can’t delete your account unless you contact them directly.
The recurring lesson here is to look before you leap even when you think they are trying to help you. So, next week I start my job as a “Virtual Sr Starbucks Barista Engineer at the Colorado School of Mines”! Do you want one or two shots of oil with that Caramel Brulee Frappuccino?
